Recommit To Get Fit And More For 2024

By Uncategorised

It’s that time of year when the excesses of holiday indulgence may have left its mark. Perhaps it’s some extra padding, or that sluggish feeling that sabotages all plans to get back into your fitness and health regime. Whatever the barriers, stepping back into your trainers and strapping on the fitbit can feel overwhelming, so it’s time to adapt a plan.
You’ve celebrated, cut loose and hopefully been able to rest and recharge, now you need to recalibrate. Here’s a few back to basic tips that will help you find your rhythm:

  1. Quality over Quantity – Less time doesn’t mean less effective workouts. Knowing you don’t have to slog it out for hours at the gym helps maintain commitment and gets great results when done efficiently. The High Country Fitness timetable is loaded with varied and exciting 30 minute classes from HIIT style RPM and cardio sessions through to Les Mills Grit workouts that will get your body powering.
  2. The longer and warmer summer days mean there’s the opportunity to smash out a heart pumping session before work or catch up with a friend for a late afternoon “buddy training” workout to spur your conviction.
  3. Nutrition and Hydration – yep, drink lots of water throughout each day not just during exercise. Do your best to eat a balance of nutrient rich and diverse whole foods that nourish and energise the body. Enjoy and savour fresh summer salads and fruits to help your body detox and get a good kick of serotonin to boot.
  4. Have FUN – It’s summer time, it’s the beginning of another lap around the sun. Jumpstart your body, get your groove back, rope in friends and family to follow through on their New Year’s resolutions and don’t procrastinate. Just leap back in.

And remember, the eager and energetic staff at High Country Fitness are ready to empower and support you in hitting your personal health and fitness goals. So get back in the game and bring on 2024.

Getting back on track with High Country Fitness!

By Uncategorised

After seeing all the “How not to overindulge in the holidays” posts and blogs we are now being bombarded with “How to get back on track” newsletters and tips.
So let’s reset with some good, positive, general advice…

RELAX – A few days off will not ruin all the hard work you have put in over the course of the year. In most cases, its good for us and we all need a break! Holidays, parties, nights out with friends and family are a part of  life and should be cherished. We do not need to beat ourselves up!

GOOD FITNESS HABITS – It is however important to re-establish your good habits. So whether you like working out early in the morning, in the evening or sometime during the day… get back into your good fitness routine as soon as possible. Remember endorphins are a wonderful thing!

FIND A WORKOUT BUDDY – Scheduling to meet a friend or family member for a workout makes us committed and keeps us honest! If someone is waiting for you, you will less likely cancel or just not show up.

NUTRITION – Clear your pantry and fridge of all left over treats and stock it with good, whole foods including fresh fruit and vegetables. This will help you get your good nutrition plan back on track naturally.

WATER – Drink lots of water to flush out your system and curb your snacking! Water is a wonderful resource to help cleanse our body and make our skin glow!

Here at High Country Fitness, we believe that life is about balance! There is no need for elaborate New Year’s Resolutions or commitments. Just remember holidays are just that – holidays. Get back into your normal health and fitness routine and you will be back on track in no time.

If you require a little help sign up to our New Year’s Resolution Boot Camp starting on Tuesday, 5th January 2016. This 4 week Boot Camp will reset your habits and help restart the New Year feeling fabulous!

Happy New Year … Bring on 2016!!!

Healthy Snacks made easy!

By Uncategorised

We all know the dilemma. We need our afternoon pick me up and have nothing in our bag to tie us over until dinner. So off to the office vending machine or the next coffee shop. Mind you there are over 600 calories hidden in your favourite chocolate muffin and a raspberry friand can be over 300 calories. This is a sure fire way to undo a good morning work out or a healthy meal plan.

At High Country Fitness we believe that snacking does not have to be boring or naughty. With a little bit of preparation anyone can enjoy a delicious healthy treat. There are so many great recipes online to satisfy your taste buds. Weekends are the perfect time to do some healthy food prep and as a valuable tip freeze your snacks individually & take out when you need a nutritious, healthy & yummy boost.
